Rich Mathematical Experiences Indoors and Outdoors

Workshop will include:

  • How to deliver a prescriptive curriculum in a playful manner
  • A focus on high quality and challenging mathematical experiences that engage children's minds - both indoor and outdoor
  • The importance of mathematical language 
  • Intentional environments and resources - using low cost/no cost materials 
  • Tips on how to evaluate the learning

Observation & Assessment (Session 1) -

Observation & Assessment (Session 1)

Workshop will include:

  • Introduction to 3 stage process of observing, assessing and planning
  • Examining observation, documentation and assessment formats 
  • Addressing the correlation between involvement and children's learning
  • Observing and supporting wellbeing 
  • Practicing the observation process 
  • Managing the observation process in settings

This session is only for participants who have already attended Observation & Assessment (Session 1) 

Workshop will include:

  • Questions re implementation of process to date 
  • Closer look at connection between observation, documentation, assessment and planning for learning 
  • Planning for learning from child led and adult led perspectives 
  • Examples of planning for Physical Development 
  • Distinction and correlation between observation and evaluation of learning

Workshop will include:

  • Planning tool for continuous provision discussed and made available to all persons attending 
  • Setting up areas to promote curriculum and understanding of big concepts such as movement & energy, sound, measures, physical movement, wellbeing, creativity, language, literacy and communication 
  • How to evaluate, extend & progress learning 
  • Role of the Adult
